For MSI-6000 Check-Weigh Packaging Scales

Q: Can I increase the capacity of my scale by recalibrating it to a higher capacity?

A: No. Capacity is specific to the load cell design. Although you can change the capacity setting on the scale electronically, its mechanical structure is still designed for a specific, maximum capacity.

Q: Why does my scale display a "locked" message when I try to adjust certain settings?

A: It means that some features have been locked out using a code. The code must be reentered to unlock the settings. Note: if the code is lost, call MSI for instructions.

Q: How can I get higher resolution out of my scale?

A: You can change the resolution electronically. MSI recommends that not more than 6,000 counts be used on six and 12-pound capacities, and not more than 10,000 counts for higher capacities. You may need to increase the filtering setting to stabilize your weight readings.

Q: Where is the calibration push-button?

A: Unscrew the screw on the left side of the indicator head. The white cal push-button is directly inside. Make sure you use a nonmetallic object to activate the button or you may cause a short circuit on the control board.

Q: Once I activate the calibration push-button, can I exit without changing any settings? What's the difference between "reset calibration" and "reset all?"

A: Yes. If you enter the calibration menu and push exit, you can return to normal weighing mode without making any changes to the scale's setup. But if you press the "enter" button in the calibration menu, you will initiate a change. Pushing the "clear" button after the calibration push-button will clear all the calibration settings. Pushing the clear button twice immediately after the cal push-button will return all scale parameters to their default settings. This includes both calibration and operation settings such as ID codes. Remember that buttons must be pushed within two seconds of each other to function properly.
