For MSI-3360 Challenger 2 Crane Scales
Q: Can I increase the lifting capacity of my scale by recalibrating it to a higher capacity?
A: No. Lifting capacity is specific to the load cell design. Although you can change the capacity setting on the scale electronically, its mechanical structure is still designed for a specific, maximum lifting capacity.
Q: What should I do if my scale does not turn on?
A: Check your power source. Make sure it is connected and that you have the required power to turn it on. Check the fuse. Every MSI product comes equipped with a fuse on the main power line, call the factory if you cannot find it.
Q: What kind of yearly maintenance does the factory recommend?
A: 1) The load train should be inspected and lubricated.
2) Check the calibration to determine if it needs to be recalibrated.
Q: What does the power-on message "LCN-T" mean, and how do I get rid of it?
A: That's the Challenger 2's built-in service counter. It displays both the number of lift cycles greater than 25% of capacity, and the number over capacity. The message will continue to display briefly each time you power up the scale to warn you of a necessary inspection. Only the factory can override this safety feature, so you will need to return the scale to the MSI Service Department in order to remove the warning.
Q: Why does my scale flash an overload message with loads less than capacity?
A: Check to see if you are weighing in net mode. If so, you tared weight to zero the scale, and the capacity of the scale is reduced by that tare amount. That's because the scale load cell is intended to lift only a specific amount of gross (actual) weight. Even though the scale reads below capacity in net mode, it may exceed the scale's actual lifting capacity.
